AI Certification

Certify tool use, , knowledge and perspective at five levels. A Zoom screen-sharing interview, not a written exam, sets your level — pick the one that fits you.

Screen-sharing interview

The examiner checks the computer before asking questions. Respond immediately and complete the requested tasks promptly.

  1. In Zoom, share your entire screen, not just a window or tab.
  2. Give the examiner of the shared computer. They first check the ’s display settings to confirm that no additional monitor is connected.
  3. After the check, answer questions and perform tasks yourself on the shared screen. Using the tools being tested is part of the interview; secretly outsourcing answers to or another person is cheating.

Level 5: example interview tasks

  1. When asked to create a , start typing immediately and finish within 30 seconds. Then verify that it actually works within 60 seconds after creation. To prevent AI-assisted cheating, skill creation is limited to 30 seconds, with an additional 60 seconds to demonstrate that it works.
  2. Questions cover commands for installing, configuring and updating tools such as , , , , and . Without hesitation, enter the commands yourself to perform installation and configuration.
  3. When asked how you would create an AI for a specific topic, start answering without hesitation and finish explaining the entire process within 3 minutes.

The 60-second verification period starts after creation is complete; it is separate from the 30-second creation period.

Several tasks of this difficulty are given. This is the entry-level standard for level 5.

Level 4: Questions cover web using , and .

Example design question

How would you build an for a specified topic? Explain its purpose, , tools and how you would verify the result.

This is one design-question example. The interview includes several questions and tasks appropriate to each level, not this question alone.

Design explanation practice examples

These invented examples illustrate ways to explain an AI design. They are not official answers and do not replace the interview requirements for each level.

A staircase of three wide steps; on each step the same small box sits on a sheet of paper, and the paper grows from a simple doodle on the lowest step to a numbered plan and then a detailed blueprint on the top step, with a child, a teenager and an adult beside the steps.
The question stays the same; the design under it grows more detailed at each level.
  1. Level 5

I want an that guesses the next word in my diary. First I collect many of my own sentences. Then the counts which word usually comes after which. When I type a word, it suggests the word that most often came next. It is a machine I build, so I check whether its guesses are right.

  2. Level 3

Goal: a next-word for my study notes, under the constraint “ only, no ready-made AI ”. : 2,000 sentences from my notes, 80% for and 20% kept for testing. Model: count word pairs in a table and turn the counts into . Evaluation: on the test sentences, how often is the real next word among the top three suggestions? Limit: it sees only one word back, so long sentences go wrong — the next would look at two words.

  3. Level 1

Specialty: an AI that continues a melody. Notes and their lengths become ; the model is a small written from scratch — , and coded by hand, trained with and . Two designs were compared, an table and the Transformer, on , speed and . The data steps, settings, random seeds and results table are all documented, so another person can rebuild the same model.

Use these examples to practise explaining a design. The real interview follows the level requirements and time limits shown above.

Constraints may be added

The question may restrict how you build. Higher levels carry heavier constraints.

  • A specific
  • A specific
  • Specialised in mathematical computation
  • Specialised in composing music

Required programming language

Required at every level, from Level 5 to Level 1.

Shell Scripting

The base language for running the computers that build and run AI.

This certificate requires at every level, from 5 to 1. Building an AI from scratch — fetching data, running , moving results and putting a model on a — usually happens on the , and whatever language the model is written in, the runs it, joins the pieces and the work. (Some models can also be built with visual no-code tools, and just using AI in a or app needs no . This certificate asks for the shell because it tests building and automating.)

The official exam is a single interview

There is no written exam and no practical exam. Every level from 5 to 1 is assessed only by a Zoom screen-sharing interview, and the level is decided by how you explain and respond in that interview.

The examiner asks, you explain

When the examiner asks about a concept, a tool or a design, you explain in your own words what it is, why it is used and how to use it — not just a single memorised word. Follow-up questions check that you really understand.

Your level comes from the interview alone

There is no separate written score or practical score. The level is decided by how accurately and quickly you handle the questions and requests, whose depth differs at each level.

Practice online, any time

Practise the basics as often as you like on your own with the knowledge exam (multiple choice). Practice results are for your preparation only and are not part of the official record.

Try a practice exam The online AI knowledge exam is the quickest way to check where you stand before applying.

The five levels

Level 5 is the entry point and Level 1 is the highest. Levels 2 and 1 require holding the level below it first.
